The Journey...
Photographer Bio - Robert Bonfield
Gippsland, Victoria, Australia.
I am Robert, a dad to 3 beautiful children. I am a photographer that specializes in the fields of Severe Weather Photography and Aviation Photography, whilst also working as an independent Photojournalist submitting content to mainstream media and industry publications.
I have been fortunate to have been successful in having content published across multiple media platforms and supplied marketing content for corporate clients, such as Erickson Incorporated, Kestrel Aviation and HP Aviation Hoses, also manage successful social media accounts for corporate clients.
I have always had an interest in photography, It wasn’t until my mid 30’s when I picked up a camera for the first time in 20 years, and a passion for creating beautiful stormy landscapes or capturing stunning and rare aircraft was born.
Photography quickly became more than just a hobby, and over the proceeding years, photography has afforded me some fantastic opportunities, from meeting new people and experiencing some awesome things, such as aerobatic plane displays, capturing stunning storms and the Aurora Australis from mainland Australia.
For me, photography opened my eyes to a world of possibilities through the iris of my lens. Photography has been a great tool in my life and promoted self-discovery and opened my eyes to the world around me, it has built a creative perspective through a lens, which challenges me, my skills, and my perception of the world around me. oh, and challenges the bank balance…
The biggest lesson I have learned from my mentor, he taught me every photo needed to tell a story… your job is to tell that story successfully through the lens… It wasn’t a spoken lesson, but a lesson impressed by the images of his travels that sparked emotion, intrigue and pangs of humanity and a desire to emulate that in my own work.
The Journey is just starting, but the future is unimaginable with all the possibilities…
